During a series of meetings conducted at Alma, about 12 years ago he found his way to the Cross and professed faith in a Savior, who was near him in the latter hours of life. A renewed brightness lit up the shades hanging in the lone valley that he was approaching: ‘twas the light which is the life of man. The listening to the singing of gospel hymns which tell of Christ the power of His blood, and the might of His salvation was a source of pleasure to him. His last illness began about 1 year ago. He lingered until his frail body succumbed to disease and his spirit returned unto the God who gave it. A good testimony is left that he was not afraid and no condemnation is for those who are in Christ Jesus. He has followed his baby daughter to be with the Father of many children. His wife, 6 brothers, 2 sisters, and a father await the meeting on a morning whose daylight shall not darken, for the sun that there shall shine, in a glory that is forever. Charles JENKINS and we are satisfied, from the tone of his letter, he would much rather be right back in Alma than in Nebraska. Here’s what he says: I will now try and sling a little ink your way and thank you for the Kinmundy Express. I am always glad to receive it and am especially interested in the letters which you have recently been printing from some of the fellows around there who are now in the service. I am at present in the sandhills of Nebraska, with not a single tree in sight. The nearest trees around here are at Alliance about 5 miles from camp. All there are in the sandhills out here are cactus and yuka bushes. I think it is the worst part of the state. Give me Illinois. We have been having quite a few 3 day problems, etc. since we were out here besides our glider flights and training with some pretty good hikes thrown in also. I believe that’s about all. I can think to write for the present so I’ll close by saying, "Give me Illinois and they can give Nebraska back to the Indians." Thanks again for the paper."

Wright Family
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
Two Wright Families
There are two totally different Wright Families in the Alma, Foster, Kinmundy and Patoka Townships. They are both in this genealogy.
The one family is from John and Nancy (Curry) Wright family, John being from Tennesse and Nancy from Georgia. They are Chapters 1, 2, and 3.
The other family is from James Johnson and Mary (Isley) Wright, from Kentucky and North Carolina. They settled in Bond County, but their grandson, William Edward Wright settled in Marion County. They are Chapters 4, 5 and 6.
Because the family is so spread across the northern townships of Marion County, I'm putting the family in both the Patoka and Kinmundy Yahoo Group files.
