      Henry married 2nd ___?___ BOND circa 1803.

      Henry married 3rd Mary COOK circa 1810. She was born 1787. Mary died 6 Dec 1852, Clinton County, Illinois. Burial in the Wilton Family Cemetery, Section 33, Clement Township, Clinton County, Illinois.

      On 1 Oct 1818, Henry WILTON of Washington, purchased 160 acres, NW, Section 29, Clement Township, Clinton County, Illinois. $2 an acre. Vol. 319, Page 201.

    Herny Jr. "Harry" WILTON, born circa 1793, England, son of Henry and Elizabeth (KNOTT) WILTON. Harry died circa 1879, Bond County, Illinois.

      Harry married Elizabeth ALLEN. She was born circa 1801, Tennessee.

      Circa 1818, Harry WILTON settled in Clinton County, Illinois. Taken from History of Marion and Clinton Counites, Illinois - 1881, Page 267, "...Among other old settlers were Benjamin ALLEN, Harry and Thomas WILTON, a man by the name of HOOPER, and Leon FISH and Samuel LEE, all of whom were here as early as 1818. Jane BOND, nee ALLEN, was born here in 1823. She is still living, the wife of Thomas BOND, now deceased."

      In 1825, the Illinois State census shows Harry WILTON living in Carlyle Precinct, Clinton County, Illinois. Taken from History of Marion and Clinton Counites, Illinois - 1881, Page 79, "...Harry WILTON, first sheriff of Washington county, later marshal of  the State of Illinois and county officer..."

      On 9 Feb 1825, according to History of Marion and Clinton Counites, Illinois - 1881, Page 80, "...Before adjourning, the board  appointed Harry WILTON clerk of the county commissioners' court, instead of James JACKSON, clerk pro tempore. WILTON entered into  bond, and took the oath of office at once."

      On 7 Mar 1825, according to History of Marion and Clinton Counites, Illinois - 1881, Page 80, "Harry WILTON and James JACKSON were appointed  commissioners to settle the financial affairs  between Clinton county and Washington, the parent county."

      In 1825, Harry WILTON was a Justice of the Peace. He performed the marriage that year between Benjamin HULL and Lucinda ALLEN. He also performed marriages in 1826 and 1827.

      On 4 Dec 1827, "Harry WILTON, county clerk, was awarded the contract for building court-house and jail, Dec.4, 1827; the work was to be completed by July 20, 1929." History of Marion and Clinton Counites, Illinois - 1881, Page 81.

      In 1830, the census shows Henry WILTON living in Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois. 1 male age 30-39; 2 males and 1 female ages 20-29; 1 male age 10-14; 1 male and 1 female ages 5-9; and 1 male and 1 female under the age of 5.

      On 7 Jun 1830, "Harry WILTON resigned his office as county clerk on the 7th of June, 1830, and the board appointed B. BOND clerk, pro tem..RobertCROCKETT was a ppointed to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Harry WILTON, on June 8 1830. The board received the jail, as built  according to contract, on the same day..The board released Harry WILTON from his contract to build the court-house; he had thus far drawn $250 on account." History of Marion and Clinton Counites, Illinois - 1881, Page 82.

      On 26 May 1836, Harry WILTON, resident of Clinton County, purchased 40 acres, NWSW, Section 20 of Clement Township, Clinton County, Illinois. $1.25 per acre. Vol. 145, Page 86.

      On 9 Jun 1836, Henry WILTON, resident of Clinton County, purchased 40 acres, NESW, Section 20, Clement Township, Clinton County, Illinois. $1.25 acre. Vol. 145, Page 89.

      On 10 May 1837, Harry WILTON, resident of Clinton County, purchased 52.95 acres, W2NW, Section 18 in Carrigan Township, Marion County, Illinois. $1.25 acre. Vol. 145, Page 164.

      On 10 May 1837, Harry WILTON, resident of Clinton County, purchased 52.80 acres, E2SW, Section 18, Carrigan Township, Marion County, Illinois. $1.25 acre. Vol. 145, Page 164.

      On 24 Dec 1838, Henry WILTON, resident of Clinton County, purchased 40 acres, SENW, Section 29, Clement Township, Clinton County, Illinois. $1.25 acre. Vol. 146, Page 39.

      On 24 Dec 1838, Henry WILTON, resident of Clinton County, purchased 80 acres, W2NW, Section 29, Clement Township, Clinton County, Illinois. $1.25 acre. Vol. 146, Page 39.

      In 1840, the census shows Harry WILTON living in Montgomery County, Illinois. 1 male and 1 female ages 30-39; 1 male and 1 female ages 15-19; 1 male and 1 female ages 10-14; 1 male age 5-9; and 1 female under the age of 5.

      On 9 Sep 1850, the census shows Harry (56) and Elizabeth (40) WILTON living in Southwest Part of District 22, Montgomery County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in England and she in Tennessee. Harry was a farmer. Their real estate was valued at $6,000. With the were: William WILTON age 26, born IL; Benjamin F. WILTON age 21, born IL; Richard N. WILTON age 18, born IL; and Thomas WILTON age 9, born IL.

      On 30 Jul 1860, the census shows Harry (65) and Elizabeth (58) WILTON living in Greenville, Bond County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in England and she in Tennessee. Harry was a U.S. Pension Agent. His real estate was valued at $20,000 and personal property at $15,000. With them was Thomas WILTON age 18, born IL. They also had two servants living with them.

      On 15 Jul 1870, the census shows Harry (75) and Elizabeth (69) WILTON living in Greenville, Bond County, Illinois. Both said to have been born in Tennessee. Harry was a farmer. Their real estate was valued at $1,000 and personal property at $400.

    Benjamin Franklin WILTON, born 4 Jun 1830, Clinton County, Illinois, son of Henry Jr. and Elizabeth (ALLEN) WILTON.

      Benjamin married Sarah Catherine HAWKEY 4 Jan 1853. She was born 10 May 1834, Illinois.

      On 7 Jun 1880, the census shows Benjamin F. (50) and Sarah C. (46) WILTON living in Hillsborough, Montgomery County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in Illinois, his father in England and mother in Tennessee. Sarah was said to have been born in Illinois and her parents in North Carolina. Benjamin was a Liveryman. With them were their children: Richard L. WILTON age 21, born IL; Ben WILTON age 16, born IL; Kate WILTON age 12, born IL; and Harry S. WILTON age 8, born IL. Richard was also a Liveryman.

    Charles WILTON, born 1804/05, New York, son of Henry Sr. and ___?___ (BOND) WILTON (See Chapter 1).

      Charles married Mary HARBISON . She was born 1810/11, Tennessee.

      Circa 1820, Charles WILTON was one of the settlers in Clinton County, Illinois. Taken from History of Marion and Clinton Counites, Illinois - 1881, Page 54, has, "About this time a settlement was made east of the Kaskaskia river by Benjamin ALLEN, Harry THOMAS, Charles WILTON, and a man named EASTON, ans south of this by Julius NICHOLS, Jubilee and Haden POSEY. Other early settlers on that side of the county were, Lewis LOTHLIN, Benjamin ALLEN, a Mr.ROPER, and a Mr. CARRIGAN, both soldeirs of the Revolutionary War; Messrs. GILMORE, CARTER, KENNEDY, BRADFORD, and perhaps, a afew others of whom no definite information can be obtained."

      In 1840, the census shows Wesley WILTON living in Clinton County, Illinois. 1 male age 30-39; 1 female age 20-29; 1 male and 1 female age 10-14; 2 female ages 5-9; 2 males and 1 female under the age of 5.

      On 7 Oct 1850, the census shows Charles (45) and Mary (39) WILTON living in Dist. 68, Clinton County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in New York and she in Tennessee. Charles was a farmer. Their real estate was valued at $400. With them were: Emeline WILTON age 23, born IL; Sarah WILTON age 17, born IL; Caroline WILTON age 16, born IL; William WILTON age 14, born IL; Joseph WILTON age 12, born IL; and Laura WILTON age 10, born IL.

1. Emeline WILTON, born 1827/28, Illinois.

 

2. Sarah A. WILTON, born 1833, Clement Township, Clinton County, Illinois.

      Sarah married 1st E. A. ALLEN.

      Sarah married 2nd John FOSTER. (See Foster Family, Chapter 13)

      E. A. was from Montgomery County and moved to Clinton County in 1844. He was a farmer and stock raiser in Sec. 16 of Clement Township.

Joseph Franklin Wilton

of

    Joseph Franklin WILTON, born Mar 1838, Clinton County, Illinois, son of Charles and Mary (HARBISON) WILTON. Joseph died 31 Mar 1924, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois (Cert. #140211).

      Joseph married Celia Anne NICHOLS 1865, Marion County, Illinois. She was born 6 Dec 1847, Clinton County, Illinois, daughter of David, Jr. and Mary Jane (FOSTER) NICHOLS (See Nichols Family, Chapter 4). Celia died 24 Mar 1929, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois (Cert. #140065).

They lived on Section 20 of Clement Township, Clinton County, Illinois.

      On 20 Jun 1870, the census shows Joseph (32) and Celia (22) WELTON living in Township 2, Range 2 (Clement or Carlyle Township), Clinton County, Illinois. Both said to have been born in Illinois. Joseph was a farmer. Their real estate was valued at $1,200 and personal property at $285. With them were: Ida WELTON age 4, born IL; and Mary WELTON age 2, born IL. They also have a farm laborer living there.

      In Jun 1880, the census shows J. F. (42) and C. (32) WILTON living in Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in Illinois, his father in New York and mother in Tennessee. Celia was said to have been born in Illinois, her father in New York and mother in Illinois. J.F. was a farmer. With them were their children: Ida WILTON age 14, born IL; Ella WILTON age 12, born IL; and Charles WILTON age 2, born IL.

      On 22 Jun 1900, the census shows Jos. F. (62) Celia (52) WILTON living in Carlyle Township, Clinton County, Illinois. He was said to have been born Mar 1838, Illinois, his father in New York and his mother in Tennessee. Celia was said to have been born Dec 1847, Illinois, her father in New York and her mother in Illinois. Joseph was a farmer and they owned their farm free of mortgage. They were said to have been married 35 years and that she had given birth to 9 children with 6 living. With them were their children: Nichols WILTON age 19, born Sep 1880, IL; Wilber WILTON age 17, born Jan 1883, IL; and Sadie WILTON ae 14, born Jul 1885, IL. (Note: Ancestry.com has the name listed as WILSON not WILTON.)

      On 25 Apr 1910, the census shows Joseph (72) and Celia (62) WILTON living on Franklin Street, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in Illinois, his father in New York and his mother in Tennessee. Celia was said to have been born in Illinois, her father in New York and her mother in Illinois. They were living off of their own income. They were renting their home. With them was their daughter, Sarah WILTON age 24, born IL. Also with them was their widowed daughter, Ella RINESITH age 42, born IL. She was said to have given birth to 1 child with 1 living. Ella's son, Harold RINESITH age 10, born Illinois and his father in Pennsylvania.

      On 14 Jan 1920, the census shows Joseph (82) and Celia (72) WILTON living on Washington Street, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in Illinois, his father in New York and his mother in Tennessee. Celia was said to have been born in Illinois, her father in New York and her mother in Illinois. They were living with ther widowed daughter, Ella RINESMITH age 57.

    Mary Ella WILTON, born Feb 1868, Clinton County, Illinois, daughter of Joseph F. and Celia A. (NICHOLS) WILTON.

      Ella married Walter RINESMITH.

      On 4 Jun 1900, the census shows Walter C. (33) and Mary E. (32) RINESMITH living in Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois. He was said to have been born Sep 1866, Pennsylvania, his father in Pennsylvania and mother in Tennessee. Mary E. was said to have been born Feb 1868, Illinois and her parents in Illinois. Walter was a Grocery Merchant. They owned their home free of mortgage. They were said to have been married 3 years and that she had given birth to 1 child with 1 living. With them was their unnamed son age 2 months, born Apr 1900, IL. Also with them was a servant.

      On 25 Apr 1910, the census shows the widowed Ella RINESITH age 42, living on Franklin Street, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois. She and her parents were said to have been born in Illinois. She was a school teacher. With her was her son, Harold RINESITH age 10, born Illinois and his father in Pennsylvania. They were living with her parents, Joseph (72) and Celia (62) WILTON.

      On 14 Jan 1920, the census shows the widowed Ella RINESMITH age 57, living on Washington Street, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois. She and her parents were said to have been born in Illinois. She was a school teacher. She owned her home free of mortgage. With her was her son, Harold RINESMITH age 19, born Illinois. Also living with her were her parents, Joseph (82) and Celia (72) WILTON.

      On 7 Apr 1930, the census shows the widowed Ella RINESMITH age 62, living at 690 Franklin, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois. She and her parents were said to have been born in Illinois. She owned her home valued at $4,000. She was a school teacher. With her was her son, Harold RINESMITH age 29, born Illinios. He was a Dental Student. A Dentist and a Barber. He was not a veteran. (Note: Ella and Harold are on seperate pages, but listed at the same address.)

Joseph Charles Wilton

Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois

 

 

    Joseph Charles WILTON, born 16 Jun 1878, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois, son of Joseph Franklin and Celia A. (NICHOLS) WILTON. Charles died 24 Feb 1950, St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri (#6910). Burial 26 Feb 1950, Carlyle Cemetery, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois.

      Charles married Arnetta "Nettie" MILLER 1898/99. She was born 1 May 1876, Illinois, daughter of John G. and Mary Ellen (McCLAREN) MILLER. Nettie died 2 Jan 1959, Lutheran Hospital, St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri (#59-003650). Burial 5 Jan 1959, Carlyle Cemetery, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois.

      On 9 Jun 1900, the census shows Charles (22) and Anetta (24) WILTON living in Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois. He was said to have been born 1878, Illinois and his parents in Illinois. Anetta was said to have been born May 1876, Illinois, her father in Switzerland, mother in Indiana. Charles was a barber. They were renting their home. They were said to have been married 1 year and that she had given birth to no children. With them was Anetta's widowed mother, Mary MILLER age 59, born Jun 1841, Indiana and her parents unknown. She had given birth to 10 children with 2 living.

      On 12 Sep 1918, Charles' World War 1 Draft Registration Card has, Joseph Charles WILTON age 40, born 16 Jun 1878. He was living in Louisiana, Pike County, Missouri. Charles was a Barber. His nearest relative was Nettie M. WILTON.

      At the time of Joseph's death, he was said to have been a retired barber for 7 years.

      The informant for Nettie's death certificate was Etta WILTON, who was living at the same address as Nettie, which was 4511 Magnolia, St. Louis, Missouri.

    Nichols WILTON, born 11 Sep 1880, Clinton County, Illinois, son of Joseph Franklin and Celia A. (NICHOLS) WILTON. Nichols died 15 Jun 1965, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois. Burial in Carlyle Cemetery, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois.

      Circa 1818, Thomas WILTON settled in Clinton County, Illinois, obviously with his older brother, Harry WILTON. Taken from History of Marion and Clinton Counites, Illinois - 1881, Page 267, "...Among other old settlers were Benjamin ALLEN, Harry and Thomas WILTON, a man by the name of HOOPER, and Leon FISH and Samuel LEE, all of whom were here as early as 1818. Jane BOND, nee ALLEN, was born here in 1823. She is still living, the wife of Thomas BOND, now deceased."

      On 17 Feb 1834, Thomas WILTON purchased SW 1/4 - 40 acres - Section 9, Foster Township, Marion County, Illinois. (Note: This was the section that the Village of Fosterburg was in.)

      In 1840, the census shows Thomas WILTON living in Clinton County, Illinois. 1 male age 40-49; 1 female age 30-39; 2 males ages 10-14; 2 males ages 5-9; and 2 males under the age of 5.

      On 15 Mar 1849, Thomas WILTON purchased W2NW - Sec. 22 - 80 acres, Foster Township, Marion County, Illinois.

      On 15 Mar 1849, Thomas WILTON purchased E2NE Sect 21 - 80 acres, Foster Township, Marion County, Illinois.

      On 18 Oct 1850, the census shows Thomas (52) and Mary (45) WELTON living in Foster Township, Marion County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in Mississippi and she in Kentucky. Thomas was a farmer. With them were: Franklin WELTON age 18, born IL; Joseph WELTON age 16, born IL; Rudolph WELTON age 11, born IL; Elizabeth WELTON age 8, born IL; and Ellen WELTON age 5,  born IL; also with them was Mary HARMON age 10, born IL.

      On 26 Aug 1860, the census shows Thomas (58) and Mary (53) WILTON living in Foster Township, Marion County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in New York and she in Kentucky. With them were: Rodolp WILTON age 21, born IL; Mary E. WILTON age 17, born IL; Ellen WILTON age 15, born IL. And also a Frank JOHN age 11, born IL.

      "The only survivorof a family of six children belonging to Zachariah MADDUXi s Joseph W. MADDUX,  whi is an honored citizen, and the present effcient post-master of Carlyle. Polly WILTON,wife of Thomas WILTON, is the only living representative of the famiy of Gilead MADDUX. She now resides in Marion county, Illinois."       On 18 Jun 1860, the census shows Frank WILTON age 18, living in Clinton County, Illinois. Carlyle Post Office. He was said to have been born in Illinois. He was a laborer living on the farm of John and Margaret WHITE.

      On 4 Mar 1862, Harry F. WILTON joined Company A, 22nd Illinois Infantry. He was a resident of Clinton County, Illinois. He was age 29, 5' 8 1/2", blue eyes and light color hair. He was single, fair complexion. He was a farmer.

      On 11 Mar 1862, Civil War Soldier, William A. SMITH, wrote in a letter to his wife, "New Madrid is ours. The rebels evacuated the town last night leaving their guns, stores and a great many horses. The 22nd Illinois came here last night and I had a long talke w ith Rev.T.F. HOUTS. Jeff BORING and Frank WILTON are also here now."

      On 16 Jan 1864, Harry F. WILTON was transferred to the Invalid CORPS.

      On 21 Jun 1870, the census shows John C. (36) and Martha (25) WILTON living in Foster Township, Marion County, Illinois. Both said to have been born in Illinois. John was a farmer. His real estate was valued at $1,700 and personal property at $550. With them were: Erastus WILTON age 11, born IL; Rosa WILTON age 7, born IL; Thomas WILTON age 8, born IL; and John WILTON age 1, born IL. WILTON age 17, born TX. Also with them was her nephew and wife, Cy (30) and Ida (16) WILTON. He was said to have been born in Texas, his father in Illinois and mother in Texas. Ida was said to have been born in Texas and her parents in Arkansas. Cy was a farm laborer.

      On 16 Jan 1920, the census shows the widowed Sara E. WILTON age 67, living in Justice Precinct 5, Tarrant County, Texas. She was said to have been born in Illinois and her parents in Illinois. She was living with her son and wife, Jodie S. (36) and Bessie (27) WILTON. (Note: Cy and Ida WILTON were neighbors of theirs.)

      On 8 Apr 1930, the census shows the widowed Sarah E. WILTON age 77, living in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. She and her parents were said to have been born in Illinois. She was living with her son and family, Jodie S. (45) and Bessie W. (36) WILTON.

      Thomas married Minnie May NELSON circa 1897, near Reno, Parker County, Texas. She was born 1 May 1875, Texas, daughter of J. E. and M. Elizabeth (___?___) NELSON. Minnie died 13 Apr 1975, Memphis, Hall County, Texas. Burial in Newlin Cemetery, Newlin, Hall County, Texas.

      On 15 Jun 1896 May WILTON was hired to teach at the Vernon School. She was paid $35 for her 5 months of teaching. Her last day of teaching was to 28 Feb 1897. (Note: Obviously June was not the date she started teaching, but just was hired.) This was taken from, "Footprints of Marion County, Vol. 12 #1, Page 88.

      On 9 Aug 1895, the Marion County Democrat (Salem, Marion County, Illinois) has, "Mrs. Eliza NELSON, who went to Texas in 1859, is back for the first time. She is a sister of Noble and Job CRUSE and Mrs. ___?___ WILTON. (Note: Don't know who this is or where the connection is.)

      On 12 Jun 1900, the census shows Thomas K. (32) and Minnie M. (25) WILTON living in Hall County, Texas. He was said to have been born Nov 1867, Illinois and his parents in Illinois. Minnie was said to have been born May 1875, Texas, her father in Missouri and mother in Texas. Thomas was a farmer. They were renting their farm. They were said to have been married 2 years and that she had given birth to no children.

      On 9 May 1910, the census shows Thomas K. (43) and Minnie M. (33) WILTON living in Hall County, Texas. He and his parents were said to have been born in Illinois. She and her parents were said to have been born in Texas. Thomas was a farmer. They owned their farm free of mortgage.       Rudolph married Mrs. Ellen Jane (PAULEY) CARTER 20 Nov 1879, Marion County, Illinois (Vol. D, Page 135). She was born , Illinois. Ellen died 10 Jan 1925, Patoka, Marion County, Illinois (Certificate #610015).

      On 25 Aug 1861, Rudolph WILTON joined Company M, 3rd Illinois United States Cavalry at Camp Butler, Illinois during the Civil War. He was a resident of Fayette County, Illinois. He age 22, 5' 8" in height, light color hair, blue eyes and light complexion. He was single and a farmer.

      On 26 Aug 1861, Rudolph WILTON was mustered into service at Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois.

      On 13 Mar 1864, Rudolph WILTON re-enlisted into Company M, 3rd Illinois United States Cavalry at Germntown, Shelby County, Tennessee.

      On 31 Mar 1864, Rudolph WILTON was mustered into service at Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. Later consolidated with Company C.

      On 10 Oct 1865, Rudolph WILTON was mustered out of service at Ft. Snelling, Hennepin County, Minnesota.

      On 1 Jun 1880, the census shows Rudolph (40) and Ellen J. (36) WILTON living in Pope Township, Fayette County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in Illinois, his father in New York and mother in Alabama. Ellen was said to have been born in Illinois, her father in Ohio and mother in Illinois. Rudolph was a farmer. With them were Ellen's children from her 1st marriage: Eliza A. CARTER age 18, born IL; Fannie F. CARTER age 15, born IL; Louis B. CARTER age 8, born IL; and Rosa D. CARETER age 3, born IL.

      On 4 Mar 1887, The Salem Herald Advocate has, "The following Marion County CivilWar vets  were examined for pensions: Jesse J. FOUTCH - Salem - 111th Ill; John MYERS - Salem - 111th Ill; James  J.BALL - Iuka - 40th Ill; Rudolph WILTON - Patoka - 3rd Ill; William  MOORE - Salem - 62nd Ill."

He was said to have been born Sep 1839, Illinois, his father in New York and mother in Alabama. Ellen was said to have been born Jun 1846, Illinois, her father in Ohio and mother in Illinois. They were said to have been married 21 years and that she had given birth to 9 children with 8 living. With them were their daughters: Polly B. WILTON age 15, born May 1854, Illinois; and Blanche M. IRWIN Lumber and Hardware (also brick and tile factory, concrete block factory and a grist mill), A.L. ASHTON Novelty adn Specialty Store, and WILEY and WILTON Real Estate (also piano and organ sales)."

      On 21 May 1920, the census shows Rudolph (80) and Ellen J. (75) WILTON living in Patoka, Marion County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in Illinois, his father in New York and mother in Alabama. Ellen was said to have been born in Illinois, her father in Ohio and mother in Illinois. They owned their home with a mortgage.

      Talmage married Mildred S. AINSCOUGH 1935. She was born 23 Apr 1915, Centralia, Marion County, Illinois. Mildred died 5 Feb 2001, Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois.

      Mildred was a member of the Patoka Baptist Church.

      Talmage was a member of the Worldwide Church of God, Mt. Vernon. A sabbatarian (7th Day) church.

      On 14 Feb 2001, The Union Banner (Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois) has, "Mildred OUTHOUSE -- Mrs. Mildred OUTHOUSE, 85, of Carlyle and formerly of Patoka and Centralia died at the Carlyle Healthcare Center on Feb 5th 2001. A daughter of Peter and Hattie Dwyer (DYER) AINSCOUGH, she was born in Centralia on Apr 23rd, 1915. She married Talmadge Outhouse in Patoka on Aug 15th, 1935. He died Jan 29th, 1998. Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Norma HAUCK, Mrs. Linda MAAS and Mrs. Karen WURM, 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence AINSCOUGH. Mrs. OUTHOUSE was a member of Patoka Baptist Church. Rev. David Rogers officiated at graveside services at the Patoka Cemetery. The Day Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."

He was said to have been born in Missouri, his father in Missouri and mother in Germany. Blanche and her parents were said to have been born in Illinois. They were said to have been married two years and that she had not given birth to any children. J. H. was a Boarding House Keeper. They were renting their home.

      On 12 Sep 1918, Joseph's World War 1 Draft Registration Card has, Joseph Henry HUMES age 36, born 25 Sep 1881. He was living in Heyworth, McLean County, Illinois. He was self-employed. He had a restaurant. His nearest relative was Blanche HUMES. Joseph was tall in height with medium build, gray eyes and brown hair.

      On 6 Jan 1920, the census shows Joseph H. (32) and Blanche (37) HAINES living in Heyworth, McLean County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in Missouri, his father in Missouri and mother in Germany. Blanche was said to have been born in Illinois, her father in Illinois and mother in Ohio. Joseph was a restaurant owner. They owned their home free of mortgage. (Note: I have no idea why the census recorded gave them the name HAINES and the ages they did. Probably reversed the ages.)

      On 5 Apr 1930, the census shows Joseph (45) and Blanche (43) HUMES living in Heyworth, McLean County, Illinois. He was said to have been born in Missouri, his father in Missouri and mother in New York. Blanche was said to have been born in Illinois, her father in Illinois and mother in Ohio. Joseph was not a veteran. They owned their home, valued at $3,500. They owned a radio. Joseph was said to have been 26 and Blanche 22 when they married.

      Obviously they had no children.

      William married 1st Martha "Patsy" NICHOLS 19 Apr 1838, Huey, Clinton County, Illinois (Vol. 1, Page 69). Married by T. WADSWORTH. She was born 7 Jun 1820. Patsy died 30 Jun 1859, Clinton County, Illinois. Burial in the Wilton Family Cemetery, Section 33, Clement Township, Clinton County, Illinois.

      William married 2nd Nancy Mariah YOUNG. She was born in 1864.

      In 1835, William WILTON purchased 20 acres near Huey (originally Clement), Clinton County, Illinois, from John HUEY.

      In 1840, the census shows Wm WILTON living in Clinton County, Illinois. 1 male age 60-69; 1 female age 40-49; 1 male age 30-39; 1 male and 1 female ages 20-29; and 2 males under the age of 5.

      On 13 Jul 1860, the census shows William WILTON age 47, living in Clinton County, Illinois. Carlyle Post Office. He was said to have been born in Illinois. He was a farmer. His real estate was valued  at $3,000 and personal property at $1,200. With him were: William WILTON age 19, born IL; Charles WILTON age 17, born IL; Mary WILTON age 15, born IL; Caroline WILTON age 13, born IL; John WILTON age 10, born IL; Martha WILTON age 9, born IL; and Thomas WILTON age 2, born IL.       Charles married Lucinda G. "Lucindy" WATTS Oct 1866, Clinton County, Illinois. Their marriage license was dated 23 Oct 1866 (Vol. 2, Page 19).

      Chas. W. WILTON served in Company K, 13th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. Union Army. He was mustered out of service 7 Jul 1865 as a Sergt.

      On 26 Dec 1861, in a letter written from Bird's Point, Missouri by William A. SMITH to his wife, "It's with a weak hand I write you tonight. I have had a very severe spell of diarrhea. We crossed the river Tuesday adn now I stand on the sod of our enemies. The first  person I looked up was Charles WILTON and made arrangements to stay all night. The first man I met was  Jacob POOL What a strange  thing for us to be thrown together on Churstmas Eve. We always were  together when we were boys."
