The land for the Doolen School Dist. 33 shows by the deed recorded Nov. 3, 1898 that Alfred Doolen sold ½ acre to the district for  $30 about 1845.  It was located 200 feet north of his home.  The school board of trustees being T.M. Jones, S.E. Green and Tom Donoho.

The Doolen School, also known as Pleasant Valley:

-        Had in 1898, 39 pupils ages 4-19,  Mae (Chance) Logan – teacher

-        1899 – Spring term Mollie Quayle, teacher

-        1900 – Spring term Emma Bates, 25 pupils, ages 6-16

-        1901 – Fall term Ethel Roberts, teacher, 35 pupils, ages 5-18

-        1901 – Spring term, Melvin Doolen, 39 pupils, ages 6-16

-        1902-1903 – Fall term Alvin Chandler

-        1904-1904-1905 – Fall term, H.L. Margin
