KAGY SCHOOL – District 79 – Alma township
About the year of 1910, Kagy school was a new one-room school house. It was built to replace an older one which had burned. It was on the corner 1400 N – 1400 E in Alma township. The first Kagy school was located about ½ mile south of the new one. It was named “Kagy” because of two large families of Kagy’s living just north of the school, and at that time there was a large enrollment. After that generation grew up, it was small, some years around ten pupils. The land for the school was donated by Mr. Hite, and went back to the Hite farm. The last year of school was 1949-50. Myra Simmons (deceased) was the teacher. The school building was sold to Russell Shufeldt, who moved it to Redlick district and made into a very lovely home.
