Ray & Lora (Jones) Ingram home. According to Marlis (Ingram) Neilson:
This was the first home of Ray and Lora (Jones) Ingram in Kinmundy, and Harold Behnke and his wife live there now. It’s back behind where the old bean plant was. It sets just to the east of the Old Wooden Water Tower. (If the brush was cleared, you could see it from 37). It was a cool farm house that my Grandpa Ingram (Isaac Denton Ingram) built with a big barn on the property. I would love to go through it to see what has changed. I was in Junior High when we moved to the new house along Rt. 37 (that would later be the home of Cecil & Thelma Jones). There use to be a peach orchard on the farm, and we had fields of jonquils that we picked in the Spring and we would box them up and they'd shipped by train to Chicago. I was young enough to barely remember the orchard but I do remember see my Dad get up at daylight, and picking flowers before he went to his job at the Greendale Grain Elevator in Xenia. Elwin and Deke owned that elevator too. We then bundled them in dozen, bunched and packed them in wax boxes, and took them to the station in town.

Lloyd Bailey Residence - photo and article from 1957 Centennial. Formerly George Rutherford home.
"Considerably modernized is this century-old residence of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bailey where open house also will be held on centennial weekend. An historical tour of older homes and other points of interest is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday. Originally built by the George Rutherford family, this home is said to have been put together with wooden pegs. The late Mr. Rutherford taught shorthand here many years ago. In the 1880s he published the "Reform Leader" and later "The Kinmundy Register". He was also an osteopath known as "the rubbing doctor". His daughters, Sue and Ida, both of whom moved to Chicago, later returned to remodel and landscape the place. It was purchased by the present owners in 1943 and again modernized and improved."
From the 1957 Centennial book "Kinmundy - Railway to Thruway (1857-1957):
"The home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bailey is about 100 years old and was originally the home of the George Rutherford family. It is said to have been put together with wooden pegs instead of nails, but has been extensively remodeled since them. The southeast room is where Mr. Rutherford taught shorthand to the many young people of the town, who then went to Chicago to get jobs. In the 80s he published the Reform Leader, an early newspaper, devoted to the Greenback party, and later the Kinmundy Register. He was also an osteopath and was known as the "rubbing doctor". The daughters, Sue and Ida, both went to Chicago, but later came back and remodeled and landscaped the place. It was bought by the present owners in 1943 when they came here at the time of the oil boom. They have modernized and improved the house and grounds."
